The Sumner Presbyterian Women have sponsored a Christmas gift drive for needy children in our community for over 25 years. Participants provide clothes and toys for families each December. We have supported many families and children through the years.
Our congregation is very generous and provides bicycles, basketball goals, dollhouses, toys, books, clothes, and generous gift cards. Over the past 25 years, we have given to approximately 800 children in 300 families in our local communities.
Besides our Presbyterian Women’s group, we have, through the years, had participants from other churches in the community.
We are especially thankful for the participation of Mrs. Ora Johnson. She knows the needs of the community and provides for us every year lists of families and children that we can help. She is also our “Santa”. At Christmas, Ora, along with her family and friends, comes to the church and picks up and delivers the many gifts for each child on our list.
It is truly a blessing to be able to provide for and give to the least of these in our community during Christmas.
It is always our hope that these families and children will have a wonderful Christmas morning.
